Pori Jazz Kids Festival 2009 broke all records

The 5th Annual Pori Jazz Kids Festival kicked off the Pori International Jazz Festival in the picturesque Finnish west coast city of Pori on Saturday, 11th of July. The 5-day-long Kids Festival offered 85 different types of musical workshops, concerts and performances on three different stages.

The Pori Jazz Kids Festival is a real success story with its over 20 000 visitors and 2000 children performing under guidance of professional musicians and tutors. Access to all concerts and workshops was again free.

This year's theme was "Back to the Roots" and the theme instrument was the harmonica. During the festival, 600 harmonicas was handed out to children as a gift.

Palmgren Conservatoire's musical workshops, master classes and music play schools for kids of all ages offered a wonderful opportunity to explore new musical boundaries. And after all the hard work, the best thing of course was to perform in concerts on the grand stage Lokki-lava.

Next summer Pori Jazz Kids will be arranged on 17th to 21st July. The program will be published in May-June 2010.
