| Pori Jazz supports work in benefit of children in the developing countries |
|
Development co-operation organization Plan Finland participates in the Pori Jazz festival and has enriched the programme of the festival since 2005. Plan offers festival guests new experiences every summer. Plan is present at Pori Jazz especially at the Pori Jazz Kids Festival where it has organized for example rap-performances about children's rights, fairy tale readings, crafts work shops and photo exhibitions. These events provide information on children's rights in an entertaining manner for both children and their parents. In the summer 2008 the PlanPastil charity concept was launched. PlanPastil is a savings box designed by Eero Aarnio. Pori Jazz artists sign the PlanPastil's and write their thoughts for a better world inside them. In the future these PlanPastil savings boxes will be auctioned and the profits will be donated for Plan's work. The partnership of Plan Finland and Pori Jazz supports the spirit of the festival, the spreading of jazz culture and enhancement of understanding between different cultures, which are the cornerstones of the Pori Jazz festival. Plan is politically and religiously independent development co-operation organization that works to improve the lives of children in the developing countries. The importance of social responsibility can be seen in the operations of Pori Jazz festival in many ways. Pori Jazz has its own environmental programme and the festival offers volunteering opportunities and creates earning opportunities for organizations and clubs. Approximately 70 per cent of the festival concerts are free. |
Pori Jazz Kids Festival is a festival-in-festival for children and childish. All the concerts are free of charge.
