Jeff Beck, one of the greatest rock and fusion jazz guitarists has been confirmed to perform at Pori Jazz Festival. Beck is going to introduce his new band in Kirjurinluoto Arena on Sunday 25th of July.

Jeff Beck is one of the legends of rock music and has also been raised to nobility of Rock’n Roll Hall of Fame. In 1960 he came into world wide fame through The Yardbirds band by replacing Eric Clapton.

After the Yardbirds he assembled the Jeff Beck Group in which Rod Stewart, Ron Wood and Nicky Hopkins joined among the others.

In 1970’s Beck cooperated also with a famous piano player Jan Hammer. Together they published a jazzy album called Blow By Blow, which raised on the fourth place in the USA album chart.

Jeff Beck is often mentioned among Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton when listing the musicians who have had the biggest influence on changing the sound of the guitar and the role of the guitarists in rock music. They developed the cracked sound and brought a show to the stage. This group of three emphasized the significance of the electric guitar as a solo instrument.

The five time Grammy award winner Jeff Beck is releasing his new studio album in April. The Album Emotion & Commotion is produced by Trevor Horn and Steve Lipson. Becks own versions of the most famous aria of Turandot opera by Giacomo Puccini called ‘Nessum Dorma’ and also the great ‘I Put Spell On You’ from Jay Hawkins are included on the record.

The tickets to Jeff Becks concert in Pori Jazz will be on sale on Monday 29th of March. The complete program will be published on Wednesday 24th of March.
