Scissor Sisters (USA)

The New York–based band Scissor Sisters combines various styles of pop rock in its diverse music, including glam rock, disco, and electronic alternative music. The group became known for its disco-style cover of Pink Floyd’s progressive rock classic Comfortably Numb, which reached number one on the UK charts. Other major early hits by the band included Take Your Mama and Filthy/Gorgeous. All of these hits appear on Scissor Sisters’ debut album, which topped the UK Albums Chart and was also the best‑selling album of 2004.

Scissor Sisters have collaborated with artists such as Elton John, of whom the band is a great fan. Elton John plays piano and is a co‑composer of the band’s hit I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’. The song reached number one in the UK, Australia, and on the Euro Hot 100 chart.

Scissor Sisters took a break from performing for over ten years, but in autumn 2024 they announced a comeback in honor of their debut album’s 20th anniversary. Last year, the band performed at concert venues and festivals, including the renowned Glastonbury Festival in the UK.
